21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV)
God made Jesus “sin for us”, as He did not just pay for our sins, but He actually became sin for us (Galatians 3:13). Think about that, as Jesus did not just bare our sins, but actually took them into His body on the Cross, so that we would not have to pay for our own sins. WOW! Just think about the fact that every sin you have ever committed, or will ever commit, had to enter into the body of Jesus so that He could pay the price for you, that your sins required, which was death. Not only our sins, but all our transgressions, sicknesses, and poverty, He bore for us. How can we ever thank Jesus enough for His great sacrifice on our behalf? If you would think on this, it will make you realize just what a tremendous price was paid for you and me. What Jesus accomplished on the cross, was because we could not pay the price ourselves (Galatians 2:16). What a loving Father we have, to pay the price that we could not pay, so He could again fellowship with us (John 17:3) – Praise God!
As if it wasn’t enough for Jesus to bear all our sins, He in turn
gave us all His righteousness, so that we could appear righteous in the sight of
God, and come back into fellowship with Him. This is hard for a lot of
Christians to understand, as they accept the fact they are forgiven of their
sins, but they don’t see themselves righteous enough to approach a Holy God.
You must understand that when God, who is a spirit (John 4:24), looks upon a
born again believer, He looks at your Spirit and not your body or actions, and
your Spirit is the very Spirit of Jesus (Galatians 4:6), so God sees you as holy
as His Son. We should understand this and be able to approach right into the
Holy presence of God, boldly, and be able to fellowship with God as His sons.
God’s Word tells us that we are now Holy and Righteous in His sight, as our new
Spirit was created that way (Ephesians 4:24). Thank you Lord for all these
gifts. This is what the Grace of God is all about, and by placing Faith in that
Grace, we can obtain all that God has made available to us – in this life and
beyond. Praise God for His goodness!
